factoid_umlaut_anim.gif - 12306 BytesFACTOID:   Chloës "Umlaut".    It's Hollywood's biggest mystery: Chloë Sevigny's on-again, off-again umlaut. The Boys Don't Cry star has accented the e in her first name since birth. But both ABC and E! misplaced the horizontal colon during Oscar preshows, and it's MIA in the new American Psycho. Lions Gate coprez Mark Urman claims her Psycho contract is umlaut-free, adding, "We wouldn't dream of insulting her." Sevigny herself "doesn't care, to a certain extent," says publicist Amanda Laurence, pressing nonetheless for strict umlaut enforcement: "I scream at [her agents at] William Morris every day." But David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean) of Spinal Tap says Chloë has it easy: "There's a waiting list in England for umlauts--we had to wait seven years for ours!"   (Artical Credit: Nicholas Fonseca, Entertainment Magazine)

WHAT THE BUTLER SAW....continued !!
(Posted November 19, 2000)
Broadway.com has a nice piece on Chloës new play "What the Butler Saw".   A revival of Joe Orton's What The Butler Saw opened Sunday, November 12 at the Theatre at St. Clement's. Presented by the New Group, and directed by Scott Elliott, the play is Brit farce at its finest. Also, check out the reviews and great pictures.

FACTOID:    Pricey Role Style icon and actress Chloë Sevigny turned down half a million dollars for a role in a comedy. Sevigny admits she is lazy - but says the huge sums of money offered to her help keep her working. She adds, "It's hard to resist when they're dangling huge amounts of money in front of your face - that's one of the reasons for sticking in the movie industry. But not long ago, I refused half a million dollars for a comedy, so I must be pretty strong. For three weeks my brother wouldn't speak to me."

The November 10th, 2000, edition of Entertainment Weekly has chosen www.chloesevigny.info as its "editor's choice". Ann Limpert wrote: This Fan Homage to the princess of mainstream edginess features breathlessly written biographies and a well-curated photo collection. While you'll have to wait for the renovated "cool stuff" section, you will get to see how quickly Chloë morphs from sullen Oscar nominee to sylphlike model to red-lipped fashion plate. Rated: B+

Kids Actor Justin Pierce Found Dead
(Posted November 13, 2000)
Independent film actor Justin Pierce, best known for his role as skate-punk Casper in the controversial 1995 film Kids, was found dead after hanging himself in a swank Las Vegas hotel room. Authorities said today that Pierce's death was clearly a suicide. Pierce, 25, was found hanging in his room at the Bellagio resort Monday by hotel security officers and was pronounced dead at the scene, said Clark County Coroner Ron Flud. He added that two suicide notes were found at the scene, but would not reveal their contents. "Hanging is the cause of death and the manner of death is suicide," Flud stated. Toxicology tests were pending to determine whether Pierce had any drugs or alcohol in his system. Pierce, a Los Angeles resident, had apparently been in the desert city to do a video shoot for a fashion company. According to the New York Post, he had a new wife and baby at home. The young actor recently starred alongside Ice Cube in this year's comedy Next Friday. He also appeared on a few episodes of the Fox family show Malcolm in the Middle. Pierce got his break while he was noticed skateboarding on the streets of Manhattan, N.Y., which earned him the chance to portray a foul-mouthed street urchin in Kids. For a while, Pierce dated his Kids co-star, Oscar-nominated actress Chloë Sevigny Boys Don't Cry "He was a sweet and talented kid," producer Cary Woods, who worked with Pierce on Kids, told the Post. Eerily, one of Pierce's lines from Kids features his character speaking about mortality: "My outlook on the situation: It's like getting fame, you know what I'm saying? Say you was to die tomorrow, right, 50 years from now, all the virgins you ever fucked are gonna remember you. Right? They gonna tell their grandkids …" Pierce is the second young actor to hang himself in Las Vegas in the last two years. In March 1999, David Strickland, who played a rock critic alongside star Brooke Shields on the now-defunct sitcom Suddenly Susan, was found dead in his room at the Oasis Motel on the famous Strip. Shields, a friend of the actor, had hired a private investigator to track down Strickland when he missed a court appearance; the detective is the one who discovered his body, which was hanging from a bed sheet. He was 29.
