gummo1.jpg - 11053 BytesA Fine Line Features presentation, Gummo was written and directed by Harmony Korine and produced by Cary Woods for Independent Pictures. It was shot in just four weeks during the summer of 1996 with a cast of almost entirely non-actors. The film is set in present-day Xenia, Ohio. Some twenty years ago, a devastating tornado struck and the small town never recovered, economically or psychically. The town is now poverty stricken and life gos on with drunken parties, numbing boredom, and summer rainshowers. Harmony Korine has created a movie so original that it is hard to categorize. Gummo is odd, tender, poetic, hilarious, and filled with startling images.Chloë also was costume designer
